Friday night Brad and I went to see "Superman Returns" in Imax 3D. We enjoyed the movie and the 3D effects were very good, but I wish there were more of them. Kate Bosworth has two different colored eyes, one blue and one partially hazel, very unusual.
We finished painting our bedroom Saturday (well, Brad painted, I taped). That is the last room we are painting, and it looks really nice, we just need to move the furniture back in place. It was so hot, about 95 degrees and very humid, that we decided it would be better to wait to finish painting the shed outside. I also worked on Caitlin's quilt for her graduation. I know that is not until 2008, but it takes a long time and I work on it when I can. I don't like to wait until the last minute. Who knows what might come up?
Both Saturday and Sunday, I worked in the lab for about 3 hours. I am making a dose-response curve for some of the estrogen antimetabolites Doug is synthesizing. I am testing their effectiveness at killing/halting growth in various tumor cells that can be hormone-responsive.
After Mass Sunday we went to the store to look for a shirt for Brad to wear to the wedding rehearsal, but didn't have any luck. Then we went to Meijer's and bought groceries. We were going to go to Michael's to get a new Unity Candle for Jillian and Brit since the other one has a broken taper, but it started just pouring rain when we got home from Meijer's, so we waited and it got too late to go so we will have to get it tomorrow.
Sunday night, Brad and Caitlin set up the DVD burner we bought and we started copying our home movies. Of course, the first one we did was Caitlin's "being boren" tape until she was about 1 1/2 years old (G-rated). Then I went with Brad to get gas in the White-Rodgers training van (aka "Oscar Meyer Weinermobile") after he had to jumpstart it because the battery was dead. Then we went home and copied another tape. We could not find our wedding video tape, so we copied the very old Butts' home movies tape instead. It starts with Brad's parents' wedding and ends with his brother Jude and Shelley's wedding. All silent but parts were very funny, especially since 3/4 of the time people's heads were cut out of the picture.
All in all, a nice weekend before the big festivities next week :)

Trying the makeover myself
Makeover

I went with my friend Marsha to get a makeover at the mall yesterday. I spent way too much money, but I really liked the look, and I didn't really have any good makeup. This is a self-taken picture, so it is really not the best view. If I knew I was going to go ahead of time, I would have done my hair, too, to get the full effect :)

July update-Cornhole game, Bachelorette, Art Fairs

I knew I wasn't going to be good at blogging. Here it is 3 weeks since I've last posted. Anyway-a lot has happened the last several weeks.
We were in Sandusky (again) July 8th for my brother Ron and his girlfriend Donna's "Cornhole game" tournament party. Cornhole is a combination of horseshoes and beanbag toss. It was a lot of fun and I saw a lot of my family. Brad and Brit won the tournament, but my sister Cherie and I won a couple of matches (even though we never played before) and gave Brad and Brit a good game.
July 10-13 Sue and Caitlin Janusz came to stay when Caitlin had U-M Orientation. We had a nice visit and Sue bought me a pretty flower vase as a thank you.
July 15th, we were in Sandusky (big surprise) for Jillian's Bachelorette party and Brit's Bachelor party. They went to the islands for drinks at night, but Caitlin and I just went for the afternoon pool party and gag gifts. It was a fun time, and they all slept in late the next morning.
Last Wednesday-Saturday were the Ann Arbor Art Fairs. There are 4 fairs at the same time throughout the campus and downtown areas. Together, they are the largest outdoor art show in the country with over 1000 vendors! It is extremely competitive to get chosen to exhibit, and there are very few things I can afford. I always enjoy looking, and I can always find something small and fun to buy.
The U-M Center for Organogenesis had a booth with pictures taken from cells and tissues used in various labs' research. I had 2 pictures I submitted chosen to be part of our booth. One of them was chosen to represent the artwork for our booth in the Art Fair program! I called it "Mohawk", but they changed it to "Headdress". I guess they thought some people may find mohawk offensive, but I meant the hair style. I worked at the booth a couple of mornings, and it was exciting to be a part of it all.
Our shed was installed a couple of weeks ago, and Brad has started painting the trim.It looks really nice, and we have lots of our stuff in it. We can now fit both of our cars in the garage-woo hoo! It is still a tight fit, so we will have to keep it clean.

Jillian's Wedding Shower

We had so much fun this weekend! Jillian had her second wedding shower for our sides of the family and we had a family picnic afterwards. Brad was the chef, as usual, and he did a great job. The guys played golf during the shower, even though it rained. Jillian and Brit had fun afterwards seeing if they could fit through the diamond ring balloon that Jacki and Caitlin had bought for a shower decoration-they each made it! Here are a few pictures:
