Caitlin and I went last night to see a dance company performing at Hill Auditorium: Amalia Hernandez Ballet Folklorico de Mexico. It was wonderful-the dancers' costumes were beautiful and the dancers and Mariachi band were incredibly talented! They performed many dances with different colorful costumes for each. Some of them were: Sones de Michoacan, the Feather Dance, Wedding in the Huastera, the Deer Dance and even El Jarabe Tapatio (the Mexican Hat Dance). During the Charreada, the male dance lead twirled a rope throughout the entire dance, which had to be exhausting! At the end of the show, the dancers threw streamers into the audience. Since we were in the balcony, they were too far away for us to catch. We did get a great bird's eye view of the dancing and costumes from up there, though, so they were good seats. Caitlin and I both enjoyed the show, even though I had to do a bit of wheedling to get her to go with me. The only spot to a fun evening was when we got there the parking structure across the street was full, so we ended up parking about 6 blocks away. It's a good thing we got there 20 minutes early so we had time to walk.

There's always something interesting to do in Ann Arbor, that's for sure! I'm glad you were able to drag Caitlin out of the house for some culture :)
